The
Esplanade Walk
of Fame
Celebrating The Bardavon’s Leading Women & Men
The
Bardavon Opera House prides itself on offering the very best
live performing arts in the Hudson Valley. Ours is a place of
public entertainment that has provided inspiration and pleasure
for so many through three centuries.
Under
our glittering marquee is the esplanade. It is an elegant
and extensive carpet of granite that symbolizes the enduring
qualities that have sustained the Bardavon since 1869. Central
to the design are leitmotifs engraved with the names of celebrities
who have graced the Bardavon stage – Mark Twain, Ignace
Paderewski, Sarah Bernhardt, Eleanor Roosevelt, Dizzy Gillespie,
Itzak Perlman, and Al Pacino, to name a few. A true walk of
fame.
The Esplanade Walk of Fame
Won’t you add your name?
You
have supported, or perhaps for the first time will consider
supporting, the continued renovation of our legendary theater. The
Esplanade Walk of Fame, a program that supports the
Bardavon’s Campaign for the New Century,
offers you an unparalleled opportunity to be part of the historic
fabric of our landmark.
Your
name or that of a loved one, or the name of your company, will
be inscribed where hundreds of thousands have passed. Engraved
on your stone will be your own personal message to countless
others for years to come.
The
Esplanade Commitment
There
are four giving levels from which to choose. You may contribute
in full or pledge your support annually for two or three years.
Gifts may qualify for a 25% New York State Economic Development
Zone tax credit in addition to the full charitable deduction
for both federal and state taxes.

Our Story
For
more than 130 years, the Bardavon has brought the best and most
diverse performing arts to the Hudson Valley. The Bardavon is
the oldest continuously operating theater in New York State,
among the oldest in the nation and has long been considered
the cultural jewel of the region. Each season, in keeping with
its rich history, the theater’s programming revels in
an electrifying array of superb music, drama, dance, and film.
The
Bardavon is listed on the National Register of Historic Places
as much for its longstanding tradition of artists and audiences
as for its vintage architecture and interior. It is our responsibility
as this landmark’s stewards to effect the essential capital
improvements that keep the theater viable while still respecting
its heritage. To accomplish this ongoing challenge, we rely
on the generous support of individuals, corporations, private
foundations, and government agencies.
